South west wales sustainable travel guide

Graphic Design and Information Design

Commissioned by the South West Wales Connected Rail Partnership, this 88-page travel guide was produced to promote sustainable, car-free travel across South West Wales. Designed for both tourists and residents, it provides clear, easy-to-follow guidance on exploring the region using public transport, cycling routes, and walking trails, promoting a more environmentally conscious approach to experiencing the stunning Welsh coastline and countryside.

The Brief

Make car-free travel simple

The aim was to create a printed guide that would make planning car-free travel simple, practical, and appealing. The guide needed to be visually engaging, intuitive to use, and include accurate travel information for a wide range of destinations. Each page also had to include a “how to get there” section with clear iconography and direct links to transport providers.

The Solution

A clean and structured layout

We developed a clean, structured layout that made navigation effortless and enjoyable. Each location featured dedicated sections with accessible travel options including bus routes, train lines, cycle paths, and walking trails—each marked by recognisable icons and QR codes linking to the relevant transport websites. The design focused on clarity and utility, ensuring readers could find what they needed at a glance.

From icon design to print layout, every element was created to support sustainable travel while making the guide a pleasure to use. The result is a practical and inspiring tool that helps reduce car dependency and supports local tourism in a greener way.
