Internet Explorer has finally stopped being supported
Once the bane of many a web developer, Internet Explorer has finally been retired by Microsoft. As of June 2022, they have stopped support for it. In truth, the old browser has been unused by most people for years besides some large corporations. Microsoft has finally nailed the coffin shut by retiring it in favour of their new ‘Microsoft Edge’ web browser.
Microsoft Edge includes a special ‘IE mode’ which Microsoft is promising to support in Edge until through at least 2029, so if you have any sites or apps that for some reason require IE, that it probably going to be the best/most secure way to still access them, however we would recommend updating your site/app as soon as possible. Microsoft’s own online services like Office 365, OneDrive, Outlook, and more will stop working with IE in August, so if you’re still using the browser, now is about your last chance to update to a modern web browser without any disruption.
